The weekend just gone brought a very big win for the Santo Stefano boys getting up over Roma Elecom 71-67 in what was a nail biter of a finish. After a week of hard practice and close analysing our last encounter with Roma we went into the game confident we had what it would take to knock them off.

The first half was a see sawing battle with S.Stefano up and down, struggling to maintain the upper hand in the game. Finding difficulty in stopping Roma's Brad Ness (AUS) and Cherubini from entering the key scoring most of there points from inside the paint. Roma finally sucumb to the our pressure and could not keep up with our transition game. With a 3pt shot from S. Stefano on the half time buzzer we were up 34-31.

The remaining half saw a more changes of the lead but S.Stefano dominated the power struggle with our ability to keep changing through our bench to maintain pressure, Roma had limited combinations and once they were in foul trouble the battle was won. Outside shooting from S.Stefano's Dimitri Tanghe in the final quarter sealed the deal for S.Stefano to come up with the 'W' in what was one of the most intense battles I have experienced in long time.

Next week see's the team on the road. We will be travelling to the island of Sardinia to play Porto Torres on Saturday night.
